For alpine skiing, you can choose between the wide slopes and exhilarating runs of the ski areas at Diedamskopf in Au, Mellau-Damüls or Warth-Schröcken. These are some of the most popular ski resorts in Vorarlberg. They can all be easily reached by bus directly from our hotel.
We suggest buying your ski pass at our reception to avoid standing in line at the resort. As a skier-friendly hotel, this is just one of the many services we offer our guests.
The snow sports school in Au-Schoppernau (Bregenzerwald) teaches ski courses and cross-country ski lessons for beginners and advanced skiers. They also have entertaining children’s ski courses for kids 3 ½ years and older.
Directly in front of our hotel, on the other side of the Bregenzerache river, there is a 60-kilometer-long network of cross-country ski trails. Winter Card holders can use the trails for free. If you prefer a slower kind of winter activity, you will enjoy the serenity of the winter hiking trails near our hotel. They will take you across glistening snowfields, through romantic winter forests and past many magical places in Au and Schoppernau. For a little extra romance, we recommend reserving a horse-drawn carriage at our reception.

Bregenzerwald has a variety of fantastic ski resorts, all within easy reach from our hotel. The Bregenzerwald ski areas boast many different types of runs. You will find easy beginner slopes as well as high-alpine slopes at an altitude of 2,000 meters and higher. There are also some extra-long ski runs that are among the most beautiful ski slopes in Vorarlberg.
At Krone in Au, we are a skier-friendly hotel. We have a secure ski room as well as a heated ski boot storage room. We also offer overnight ski equipment servicing in cooperation with a sports store if your skis need tuning. And there is a direct bus from our hotel to the ski areas.

MICHAEL WIDMEr ski project
The Michael Widmer Ski Project is a program that offers beginner lessons as well as refresher courses for those who have been off the slopes for a while. Workshops are held regularly in Au/Schoppernau. The courses are based on a special blend of skiing and dancing.

Absorb the magic of the Bregenzerwald as you glide through snow-covered forests and along crystal-clear creeks against the backdrop of the beautiful Bregenzerwald mountains.
The cross-country trails of Au/Schoppernau encompass over 60 kilometers. Both classic style skiers as well as skate-style skiers will find plenty of trails to explore.

DIEDAMSKOPf ski area
The Diedamskopf ski area has 40 kilometers of slopes and fantastic runs for the entire family. A free ski bus takes you directly to the base station of the ski resort. This is also where the office of the Snow Sports School Au-Schoppernau is located. Our little guests love Didi’s Kids Land with a 300-sqm. area for playing and arts & crafts. Childcare available.
Our highlights at Diedamskopf are the amazing panorama from over 2,000 meters as well as the 10-kilometer-long non-stop run from the top of the mountain to the base station.

MELLAU-DAMÜLS ski area
The Mellau-Damüls ski area is the largest ski resort in Bregenzerwald. It has 109 kilometers of marked slopes and runs as well as a high-altitude cross-country ski trail.

WARTH-SCHRÖCKEN-ARLBERG ski area
Go to the Warth-Schröcken ski area to access the largest ski area in Austria. 94 lifts and cable cars and 300 kilometers of runs offer plenty of challenges for skiers of all levels. Cross-country skiers can glide along the beautiful trails at Hochtannberg.
Ski buses
Enjoy easy and stress-free access to the slopes. If you buy a 3-Valley Ski Pass at our reception, you can use the ski buses for free.
AU-DIEDAMSKOPF-SCHOPPERNAU ski bus
A special ski bus will take you to the Diedamskopf base station safely, in no time and free of charge. The bus stops directly in front of our hotel. It leaves every 20 or 40 minutes, depending on the time of the day. Furthermore, all regular buses between Au and Schoppernau can also be used by skiers. Buses are free for Winter Card holders.

All state buses are free for skiers and snowboarders holding a valid 3-Valley Ski Pass (except for group passes).

Our local ski school office, the Snow Sports School Au-Schoppernau, is located directly at the base station of the Diedamskopf ski area.
The Snow Sports School Au-Schoppernau offers lessons for alpine skiing as well as cross-country skiing for adults and children.
